GOD DEMONSTRATED HIS LOVE TOWARD US, CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS

The mission of Jesus to earth was to defeat sin. By defeating sin and by His resurrection, Jesus defeated Satan and death, and has made perfect those who are being sanctified.

To defeat sin, Jesus had to live sinless and die sinless letting sin kill His physical body. This act of sin killing sinless Jesus condemned sin to eventual extinction. Jesus arose with all power and authority to take away the sin of the world.

Jesus was the Lamb of God. Jesus was the sin offering which defeats and takes away sin. Jesus who was without sin became the offering for sin on our behalf that we may become the righteousness of God.

Just as Adam’s one sin brought condemnation to all men, so also the one act of righteousness (sinless death) of Jesus brought opportunity of justification and life to all men.

As a child and as a man, Jesus learned obedience one day at a time. At every stage of life, Jesus made the decision to not sin and remain faithful to His Heavenly Father.  Jesus was successful because He is God. God was in Christ making provisional reconciliation for all men. All the fullness of God was in Christ. This chastisement (DISCIPLINED LIFE), this learning obedience, determined our destiny and our opportunity for peace with God. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him. He was pierced for our transgression, He was crushed for our iniquities, and the chastisement that brought us peace was upon Him.        Hebrews 5:8     Isaiah 53:4-6      Matthew 28:18

                   John 1:29      Romans 8:3       Romans 5:18,19      2 Corinthians 5:19-21     Colossians 2:9

“Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings You did not desire, nor did You delight in them” (although they are offered according to the law). 9Then He adds, “Here I am, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first to establish the second. 10And by that will, we have been sanctified through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11Day after day every priest stands to minister and to offer again and again the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12But when this Priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God. 13Since that time, He waits for His enemies to be made a footstool for His feet, 14because by a single offering He has made perfect for all time those who are being sanctified.  Hebrews 10

What does it mean that Jesus died for our sins?

1  Jesus gained the right as a Man to reverse all that Adam caused.   Romans 5:18

2  Jesus died to condemn sin to removal from all creation.  Romans 8:3

3  Jesus gained the right to make us into new creations.  Romans 5:19

How did Jesus’ death gain this enormous victory?

1  Jesus remained sinless even unto death.     1 Peter 1:19

2  Since sin killed the sinless Jesus, sin is condemned for doing this atrocious thing.

3  Jesus arose from the dead and is in the process of saving us.   1 Corinthians 15:17

When does this salvation happen?

When we believe Jesus and call upon Him to save us, the resurrected life of Jesus enters our life and makes us into a new creation in Christ.     Romans 10:9

We are saved by His life.    Romans 5:10

Jesus is the Way/   Through His physical death

Jesus is the Truth/  Worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Jesus is God.

Jesus is the Life/   By His Spirit we are sealed and indwelled permanently

Jesus died for everyone. Jesus’ death makes our salvation possible. 1 Tim. 2:6

Jesus’ resurrected life in us after we believe makes our salvation a reality

Ephesians  2:10

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Saved through faith, created in Christ Jesus, we are appointed to do good works. We respond to conviction by believing in Jesus, and God gives us a new birth. Rom. 10:13

Penal substitutionary atonement theory is false teaching because it teaches that the death of Jesus saves a person. The Bible teaches that the resurrected life of Jesus saves a person after he believes.     Romans 5:10        John 1:12,13

A person must believe and receive Jesus before he is born again, before he is a child of God, before he is sealed and indwelled by the Spirit.

The finished work of Christ at the cross was to make salvation possible for all who believe. None of us were saved 2000 years ago at the cross. Christ is doing His work now in the lives of cooperating people who allow themselves to be brought to a saving knowledge of Jesus. Those who believe Jesus are being saved today.

It appears that the majority of people who attend the Southern Baptist convention are showing their lack of understanding the Bible. In 2017, the majority voted that if you don’t believe in penal substitutionary atonement you should leave Baptist churches. They voted for a false teaching. They voted against the articles of confession written by Southern Baptists in the last century. Those articles of confession like the “Baptist Faith and Message” do not demand belief in penal substitution. It is evident by present teachings, that the Sunday School board of the SBC, the seminaries, and the leadership of the SBC have become Protestant in their teachings.

Any atonement theory which teaches that people are saved only by the death of Jesus are false teachings. When the Holy Spirit inspired the writings of the New Testament, the word “atonement” was never used in the original Greek to describe the work of Christ at the cross. The idea of a provisional reconciliation was and should be attributed to the cross of Jesus.   2 Corinthians 5:19

The cross made salvation possible. You must be reconciled to God and you must be born again, do convey the meaning  that by believing in Jesus you will be judicially reconciled to God.

Romans 5:10  For if, when we were enemies, we were (provisionally) reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, now that we are (judicially) reconciled, shall we be saved by His life.

The SBC is moving, it seems,  from tolerance of false teaching, and now to intolerance of the true teachings of Scripture concerning salvation. It is a sign that Satan is alive and well.

The groups of Christians who were intolerant of Protestant false teachings were persecuted for not adhering to infant baptism and baptismal regeneration. They believed that after a person comes to faith in Jesus they were then to be baptized. Sometimes they were called rebaptizers because they practiced believers’ baptism. In the 19th century when the Southern Baptist Convention was formed the cooperating churches tolerated Protestant false teachings concerning atonement theories like penal substitution. Twentieth century Southern Baptists did not demand that churches adhere to the Protestant false teaching of penal substitution according to their articles of faith. Twenty-first century Southern Baptists are now growing intolerant of people who reject the false teaching of penal substitution.

The foundation principle of the false teachings of Protestantism is the belief that people are saved by the death of Jesus and His finished work at the cross. But Jesus still has other work to be finished like saving cooperating people and sealing them till the day of redemption. Jesus’ death made possible our salvation. Jesus’ resurrected life makes salvation a reality in those who believe. We are saved after we believe. After we believe, the resurrected life of Jesus enters our life and makes us born again to a new creation. To be “in Christ” means we have passed from death to life. To be “in Christ” means that God has promised to complete the work He began in us and make us holy and blameless. To be “in Christ” means that God has promised us an inheritance as adopted sons of God.

I am 77 years old here in 2025. I have been a Southern Baptist since the age of 9 when God saved me and started rescuing me from my sins. I have contended with liberals in the SBC who taught that Bible stories are myths. I have contended with elite conservatives who think they are superior in their understanding of God’s salvation for people. Calvinist’s say that if you don’t agree with their doctrines of grace, you’re just too ignorant to understand. But God says that He gives understanding to the simple. Psalms 119:130

I believe God’s salvation is so simple a child can understand. The simplicity of God is seen in salvation. Jesus allowed sin to kill His physical body and He was sinless when He died. This act of sin has condemned sin to ultimate extinction. Jesus arose with all power and authority to take away sin in the person who cooperates with Holy Spirit conviction and becomes a new creation in Christ.

Romans 5:18-19; 8:3; 10:13            Matthew 28:18

I still support SBC missions trusting that our missionaries on the field are truly born again and are presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world. I believe over 70% of our seminary graduates do still reject Calvinism and Arminianism. I reject both.

THE SIMPLE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST IN ROMANS 8:3,2,1

3 For what the Law could not do [that is, overcome sin and remove its penalty, its power]  being weakened by the flesh [man’s nature without the Holy Spirit], God did: He sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful man as an offering for sin. And He condemned sin in the flesh [subdued it and overcame it in the person of His own Son]

2 For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

At the Cross, God used the sin offering, Jesus’ sinless death, to condemn sin and defeat sin, and  then Jesus arose with all power and authority to make new creations out of those who believe. “In Christ” we are no longer condemned. We are made alive by the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus.

To be “in Christ” our part is to cooperate with the Holy Spirit, believe that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and to call upon Him to put His life within us. The way is the Cross, the truth is His resurrection, and the life is “Christ in me”.

God puts the Spirit of Life within us making us new. God renews our mind by taking away our negative thoughts and replacing them with glorious thoughts about Him and the future.

God rescues us from sin, creates us in Christ Jesus, that we may do good works, and that we may know God the Father and Jesus the Eternal Son of God.

For we are His workmanship, created anew in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.      Ephesians 2:10

For God so loved the world, that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

For whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.   Romans 10:13

For those who are led by the Spirit of God, they are the children of God.  Romans 8:14

To be led is to follow Jesus.  Matthew 28: 18-20        1 Thessalonians 5:5-28
